Off topic: The RNC

I work in downtown Saint Paul and was one of the few people working in the office this week, so I had a good view of the goings-on during the day (my windows looks out to the Landmark). Overall it was pretty quiet (the rowdiness didn't happen until later on in the day) and it was actually rather fun to be down in the thick of it all. Certainly great people watching!! There was a point on Wednesday afternoon where it looked like some protesters and the police might go at it, and so what did I do? - Ran straight down to the street to get a closer look, of course, much to my wife's consternation! Clearly my instinct for self-preservation is outweighed by a bit of a daredevil streak (on my last vacation I gave waterfall rappelling a try, so perhaps it's not too surprising). Nothing ended up happening, the police just kept the protesters from the security perimeter while the rest of us stood around and took pictures. I don't know if any of this will make it into a play or anything, but it was certainly all something to see.
