Last week I wrapped up the rough draft for my new mystery play (still untitled), which brings me up to five completed rough drafts for 2010! This was my goal at the beginning of the year, with at least three of those drafts being brand new (the other two could be finishing drafts that I had lying around). As it happens four of the five plays were brand new, while the fifth was half-completed draft that I was able to finish up. I'm finding it helpful to have some sort of writing-related goal for the year, if for no other reason than to help keep me plugging away. As we're coming up on November, this means over the past 12 months I've not only completed drafts for five plays, but have also written the rough draft of a novel (done as part of NaNoWriMo last fall).
Now comes the slightly harder part of revising all those plays! My first draft of the year was for The Captain's Treasure, my new commedia play, which I did also revise early this year and have started sending it out. Of the others, two still need to even be typed into the computer, but at least I now have a lot of raw material to worth with.
