In the land of Edelsha three traveling players come to tell the Tale of the Burning Sword...

An ancient weapon from a long forgotten time, the Burning Sword offers great power to whoever wields it.  It is used for centuries by great heroes to defend Edelsha from the legions of darkness, until seized by a dark enchanter.  At great cost the forces of light defeat the enchanter, but when no worthy warrior can be found to bear the sword it fades into legend, guarded by fire and bound by a mysterious prophecy.  Discovered again in the reign of High King Tohan, the Burning Sword becomes the key to Edelsha's survival when a young magician betrays the king and seeks to conquer the kingdom.  To rescue her land, the magician's old friend endeavors to retrieve the sword, but when she is followed by the magician she finds herself torn between her loyalty to her friend and her loyalty to her king.  In the end, only one of them can reclaim the sword, either to destroy Edelsha or to save it.
